I have two sons, ages 18 and 25. Both were instrumentalists in their student worship teams and both advanced to play in “big church every week. My older son dropped out of church while in college. I later learned that he felt helplessly as he saw some of the abuse I endured and he was helpless to do anything about and didn’t feel empowered to even share his struggles with me until years later. I’m grateful that his family found a wonderful church and where he plays drums. Fortunately, my 18 year old has been in a healthier church for the past 5 years. I pray he remains connected to a church Body and continues to serve the Lord by playing keys and in other ways.
